The clarity is very good from the reservoir down through the Nature Conservancy. There were five reserved tags hanging at the kiosk on Sunday, so it shouldn't be a problem getting in to fish. October Caddis are just beginning to come off in good numbers, some fish were coming up to eat them later in the day. Main menu item is a good 'ol olive Poopah in #14. Other good flies to throw right now are Rubberlegs, brown or black in #6 or #8, Perdigons and Olive Hotspots. Some big browns are coming to Rapalas, you should do well with a large streamer ripped from upstream across the current. Just saying. The late evening October Caddis dry bite is a little ways off, but closer than you may think. October is a great time to fish the McCloud!
