Trout Opener: The dates for Trout Opener are November 17th - 19th. Wright’s Rainbows will stock 2,500 pounds for the opener. Our trout come from a family owned, commercial aquaculturist in Idaho. Ten percent of every stocking is over 3 pounds. We will stock 19,000 pounds of trout this season.

What’s the Catch? We’re all about the bass these days. Anglers were pulling bass from all around the lake this weekend. They were biting on shiners or lures that mimic bait fish. Look for bass on the periphery of deep channels where they can easily access our schools of Bluegill. The catfish bite was good in the early morning, but tapered a bit midday. Shadow Cove and Sentry Cove are always good coves for catfishing. Our rangers recommend our pre-cut chicken livers. Mackerel can get tired especially if everyone is using it. We heard there were Bluegill biting off of the t-dock this weekend. Pieces of nightcrawler or meal worms usually lure them in.

Conditions: The water temperature is just below 72 degrees. Dissolved oxygen is consistent throughout. The lake elevation has not changed recently, which means there’s plenty of shoreline for trout opener! With the time change last weekend, the sun is rising at 6:11 a.m. and setting at 4:52 p.m.
