Castaic Lake rose to 77 percent of capacity, and water temperatures held at 58 degrees. Castaic trout anglers got an early Christmas present with a massive load of rainbows being dumped into the lake. Anglers caught bows up to three pounds with minijigs, Hookup Baits, Pinched Crawlers, and dough baits. Spoons and spinners worked for bites as well. Bass anglers reported tough conditions with rainy weather hampering their efforts. Large and smallmouth took finesse baits and spoons in 10 to 50 feet of water. Striper anglers reported a few nice sized fish while throwing magnum topwater and trout imitation swimbaits near the West Ramp. Other techniques were spotty at best. Crappie anglers used spoons and minijigs in deep water at the Lagoon for good results.
