The Siletz is starting to see its first summers and springers being caught!‌

This last week we saw our first summers reach the trap, bright and chrome! Only a handful reached the trap before temperatures dropped again. Fish are likely holding throughout the gorge and in the lower mainstem for temperatures to come up a bit before moving freely throughout the basin.‌

Spring Chinook fishing has begun on the Siletz. Although it's still early in the season we have had a few reports of fish being caught lower in the system. With the rains we got last week, going into the sunny weekend we should see some fresh fish moving into the system. ‌

Springer fishing won't really pick up until later May and into June. We haven't seen any spring Chinook reach the trap yet, and so the fish that are in are likely lower in the system. We have had a few reports from fish being caught on the town loop as well! ‌

It's a slower start to both Spring Chinook and summer steelhead! ‌Trout fishing reopened May 22.
