The lake held close to 93 percent of its storage capacity, and water temperatures topped 80 degrees. Boil fishing has arrived at Castaic Lake with opportunities before 9am and later in the day. Striped bass pushed up shad fry in the ski arm and near Elizabeth Canyon. Large and smallmouth chased bait in the backs of coves. Weightless Flukes, spoons, and topwater all connected with the surface feeding fish. Bass anglers also got bent using Senko style baits in Natural Shad and Watermelon. Drop shot and C-rigs took bass in 5 to 15 feet of water when rigged with smaller finesse plastics in baitfish colors. Shore anglers hauled in both catfish and striped bass Carolina rigging cut baits and chicken liver.
