Catfish Season: The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish last week. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will go into the lake the week of August 19th. The last stock of the season won’t be until October. You know what that means? Night fishing every Friday and Saturday night through October!

What’s the Catch? The catfish stocking last week yielded limits for many last weekend. The stockers usually need a little enticing when they’re first put in the lake. Our rangers recommend using a bait with garlic or a blood dip bait. Catfish were caught last weekend on everything from nightcrawlers to preserved baits. The shorelines around the boat dock and t-dock were active. Boats on the tower buoy line were also hitting limits. In the morning, expect to find the cats in 60-100 feet of water. They’ll be closer to shore as soon as the sun starts to set. Still a lot of bass and panfish being reeled in during the day. You can expect to find both in Half Moon Cove or Siesta Point.

Conditions: The t-dock will remain closed until further notice. The current water temperature at the surface is around 80 degrees. The sun is rising at 5:58 a.m. and setting at 7:51 p.m.

Please be aware of exposed and submerged structure while boating and muddy shoreline around the lake. Correction: There was a slight delay in the lake refill, but the refill should begin next week. We expect the fill to take about a month.
