The Metolius is still fishing well, and for those who like to target the big guys, bulls are  still prevalent in the lower sections. As always if you plan to target bulls, keep ‘em wet, crimp your barbs, no lead, and don’t go out there under-gunned; A 7 or 8 wt rod should do the trick strung up with some bigger streamers in green, white, or black. Caddis and PMD’s can be found all over the river throughout the day for the dry fly enthusiasts but stay long enough and you could find yourself an awesome rusty spinner hatch going on in the afternoon/evening. Nymphing as always be the go to out there on any part of the river. It really is a match the hatch river, so don't be afraid to change out your flies if it doesn’t seem to be going your way. Caddis pupas, jigged pheasant tails and an assortment of perdigons will keep you on the water longer.
