The Upper Kern is kicking out natives and holdovers throughout the 20-mile stretch. The flows are down, but the clarity is good. Anglers have been scoring trout with gold bead nymphs in yellow and gold. Our contacts reported the best action came from deeper pools with good flows along the 20-mile stretch of the Upper Kern. Trout have been coming on trout jigs, small spinners and salmon eggs. In the Lower Kern, bass are showing more frequently with small crankbaits, double tail grubs on finesse jig heads and spinners. Catfish are being caught with SSS dip bait and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River is flowing at 289 CFS and the Lower Kern River is flowing at 1524 CFS.
