Pyramid held near 90 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing pressure has been light. Thick weed beds made for tougher shore fishing, but boat anglers did well with weedless offerings. Topwater was a good way to entice vicious strikes over the weed beds. Areas such as bluff walls and deep points provided weed free fishing in the 20-to-30-foot zone for the finesse crowd. Catfish ate cut baits and chicken liver on the Carolina rig. Striped bass boils were reported near the island, but there has been no consistency to that bite. Striped bass also took trolled umbrella rigs out deeper and away from the weed beds.
