The flow coming out of IP Reservoir is still below average. Our beautiful fall weather that was above average warm temps have turned into below average cold temperatures and snow on the ground to stay in Island Park. Remember Harriman State Park closes November 30. Also a few things to remember this time of year is to try to fish during the warmer part of the day. This part of the day you will see more activity not only by the fish, but the potential of a better hatch. Lastly on the lower river be aware of the spawning reds for the brown trout. Please watch where you walk and don’t fish the spawning reds let the next generation be healthy and bring us better fishing in the coming years. On the right day we are still seeing BWO’s and Midges. I would have some Tilt Wing BWO in size 18 and 20, No Hackle BWO in size 18 and 20, Griffins Gnat size 18 and 20 for the small drys. All the boat ramps on the lower river are still open so if you are going to get out I would use a dry/dropper rig with a size 8 Duracell Chubby, size 12 Pat’s Rubber Legs, Zebra Midges in brown and black size18 and 20. The streamers I would have are Copper Zonker size 4, Woolhead Sculpin size 4, Coffee Sparkle Minnow size 4, and the LiL Kim Copper size 6.
