Applegate's surface elevation is 1,943 feet. Boat access is limited to the low water boat ramp at French Gulch. The water temperature at the surface has warmed to 46F.Check up-to-date reservoir levels here, or call the Army Corps of Engineers at 800-472-2434 for flow and temperature information.

Trout should be widely distributed throughout the reservoir, so fishing should be good. Anglers have also been catching smallmouth bass on 5-inch Senkos.

There is a longstanding health advisory for consumption of resident species due to elevated levels of mercury. See Oregon Health Authority consumption guidelines or the sportfishing regulations for more information.
