The Yellowstone River opens this coming week, 15 July, above the falls. Look for good fishing during stonefly and caddis times. Green drakes and pmd should bring up some fish also. The river is a bit high and cold but the Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout are certainly making a comeback due to all the hard work and tireless efforts and funding from folks like you and the Yellowstone Park Foundation and others. Make sure you support them and stay tuned here for updates. The river downstream of the Park is fishing strong now as salmon flies, golden stones and caddis bring up the fish. The big bugs are at Gardiner, Mt now and moving up into the Park so get to this river soon,

The Madison River remains the best bet around for dry fly, nymph and streamer fishing. The river in the Park continues to offer up great PMD spinner action 8-10am and duns come off then too. Evening caddis action is grand near the junction. The river between the lakes has fished well during the day when green drakes and PMD's emerge along with salmon flies and golden stones.
