The Gallatin has a few mayflies around. It will continue to have some PMD, Epeorus and Baetis fishing if our rainy weather persists. If the clouds open up there will be some great terrestrial fishing. Take your hoppers up there and hit the banks. You'll be surprised to find some very nice fish in skinny water. As always don't head to the Gallatin early. The water is awfully cold coming down from those high mountains.

The Madison has cooled off nicely with our recent showers. Wet weather is both good news and bad news. The remaining PMD's and Epeorus will emerge allowing us to fish to risers for periods of the day. We are also seeing the beginning of the August Baetis tricaudatus emergence which can be terrific. The Gallatin is fishing with caddis, golden stones and hoppers. If you are up there in the next couple days you may still find Pale Morning Duns. This river is a good option right now because of its cold water fed by the high mountain streams. Nymphing will be the best option mid afternoon.
