Trout fishing has held steady the last couple weeks and a few anglers are catching limits each day. On 12/16, Jack Antrim of Hayward caught 14 trout! He was trolling from his rowboat on the backside of Horseshoe by the old boat ramp. He kept a couple to eat and very carefully released the rest. Wayne Luna, also from Hayward, has been doing well trolling. Over the last two weeks he’s caught three whoppers weighing in at 7.5 lbs., 8.5 lbs., and 7 lbs!

While most of the fish seem to be stacked up on the far side of the lake, Fishermen’s Row is still producing. On the 25th Raj Pradhan of Fremont caught two really nice looking Lassen trout weighing in at 4 and 6 pounds. Also, catfish are still hitting! Four large catfish heads were seen in the garbage cans at the fish cleaning station this week.

Photo is form December 24th Jose Jesus Gonzalez of Newark caught a nice looking limit, the largest was 4 lbs.

Rainbow Trout have been biting in the morning to mid-afternoons on inflated nightcrawlers, but not much more than that. An occasional anglers have been using either Power-Bait or Mice...... Mt Lassen planted 1000 pounds of trout at the public launch. Water temperature is still around 50 degrees. Trout are eating all over the lake and that’s the only species caught this week. Salmon eggs and rooster tails are best this week. Good luck everyone and Merry...... Read More
