Anglers who fish in the State of California are reminded that anyone fishing in the "Golden State" is required to have the new 2008 fishing license, effective Jan. 1.

The 2008 Non-Resident, annual California fishing license is $104.20 per person at all regular license outlets.

A one-day fishing license (Resident or Non-Resident) will cost $12.60.

A two-day fishing license (Non-Resident) will cost $19.45.

A ten-day fishing license (Resident or Non-Resident) will cost $38.85.

A second rod stamp is $12.10. That stamp allows an angler to fish with two rods or lines in inland waters, except for waters in which only artificial lures or barbless hooks may be used.

According to the Calif. DF&G website www.dfg.ca.gov, California fishing licenses and stamps are available in this general area at a number of outlets including:

The cold weather and a plant of 1,750 pounds of trout last week has turned on the fishing. Another ton is going in this week. Henry Yamaoka of Gilroy caught the big fish of the week, a 12-pound, 10-ounce trout. Right behind that catch was Domingo Sarmiento of Union City, who caught a 10-11 trout. Kiosk Cove is the best spot and Power Bait or small lures work well. 510-795-4883....... Read More
