There are some good opportunities to fish dry flies on the Metolius right now. The best time is during the early afternoon BWO hatch around 1pm. The time during this hatch can be short so be ready with both adult and emerger patterns to maximize the chances you’ll have what they’re looking for. Golden Stones, October Caddis, and an assortment of smaller Stonefly and Mayfly patterns are producing good numbers of nice rainbows under the surface.

Bull trout can be found still while nymphing big red patterns, or throwing streamers in Olive, or Black and White.

Dries: Hackle Stacker BWO #18-22, Purple Haze #18-22, Sparkle Dun BWO #18-22, Parachute BWO #18-20, Tilt Wing BWO #18-20, Olive Haze #18-20, Olive or Black Elk Hair Caddis #14-16
