This week In the Upper Kern, the DFWL stocked Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge. The DFWL has a scheduled plant for Section 5 every week thru December. After the plant in all three sections last week and the additional in Section 5 this week, things should start to improve. Anglers can find trout throughout the 20-mile stretch with salmon eggs, trout worms, minijigs and spinners. Fly anglers have done well for natives stripping streamers and fishing attractor nymphs.

The Lower Kern Largemouth and smallmouth bass bite is fair. Soft plastics fished in the slower water and around eddies are getting some bites. At the time of reporting the Upper Kern River was flowing at 128 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 155 CFS.
