After recent heavy rains Nacimiento rose to 14 percent of capacity, and with more rain on the way that trend is likely to continue. The spotted bass went for finesse plastics and spoons in deeper water with most anglers fishing the 15-to-35-foot zone. Schools of bass were reported near shad balls at those same depths. Finesse baits and jigs produced well, but vertical spoons like War Eagles, Kastmasters, and underspins have also been fooling plenty of spotted bass. Catfish anglers reported catching fish while using sardines, chicken liver, and mackerel, and some deep-water crappie were caught by anglers using minijigs near submerged rock piles.
