Stocking: Another 1, 500 pounds of Rainbow Trout from Idaho will be stocked this week. In addition, DFW dropped 700 pounds yesterday.  That’s 2,200 pounds of trout waiting for your this weekend! We will stock trout every other week through April. Follow our Instagram feed for the most updated info regarding trout stocking.

What’s the Catch? With 2,200 pounds of trout in the lake this weekend you’re bound to catch your limit. A lot of anglers head to Hermit Cove on Friday and Saturday, but the bite can be prolific in the coves around the boat dock too. For more elbow room, our rangers recommend Cloister and Siesta Coves. Last weekend, the trout were hitting on inflated nightcrawlers. If you’re using Powerbait, our rangers recommend using scent to increase the effectiveness. Varieties in garlic and salmon peach work well at our lake. Remember during the winter, the trout will be in the shallows.

Conditions: The water temperature is just under 65 degrees. The district started to refill the lake early this month at approximately 20 million gallons a day. The fill should conclude by the end of the month. The sun is rising at 6:42 a.m. and setting at 4:43 p.m.
