Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout from Idaho will go into the lake this week. We received a bonus stock of 600 pounds from DFW bringing our total to 2,100 pounds of trout stocked this week! The next stocking of 1,500 pounds will be the week of April 1st. Trout season will run through the end of April. Follow our Instagram feed for the most updated info regarding trout stocking.

What’s the Catch? Limits of trout were caught near the Hermit Cove buoy line last weekend. Shoreline anglers were using Powerbait in bright colors and boaters were reeling them in with hard baits and lures. Some trout were also reported in the channels between Half Moon and the main channel. There were reports of bass biting near the old boat launch on plastics. The bass are eager to spawn and set up their nests this time of year. Look for them in shallow water near structure. The best place to fish for panfish this time of year is going to be just beyond the grassy structure in Half Moon and Eagle Coves. A piece of nightcrawler or wax worm is all you need to entice the bluegill.

Conditions: With the air temperatures warming up, so goes the water temperature. The surface is seeing temps around 62 degrees, whereas at the 50 foot depth water temps are hovering around 59 degrees. Could explain why the trout are a little deeper right now. With spring forward the sun is rising at 7:00 a.m. and setting at 6:55 p.m. **The lake level will be lowered starting in early April. Stayed tuned for more information on the changing shorelines**
