The striper bite along the Colorado River below Davis Dam is going strong

Our local angler, Dale Scott, landed a nice striper while fishing from shore in the Rotary Park area. He was using anchovies as bait, which have proven to be highly effective for catching stripers in this region. Besides anchovies, there are other great bait options such as shrimp, squid, mackerel, nightcrawlers, and shad. This doesn’t even include the wide variety of lures and swimbaits available for anglers to try.
While the striper bite is strong, we’re also in the heart of trout season. The Willow Beach Hatchery has been stocking some fantastic rainbow trout, and both local and visiting anglers are having great success landing their limit of five trout below Davis Dam. This is the bag limit for trout in this area.
As Dale’s catch shows, the striper bite along the Colorado River below Davis Dam is going strong. On Lake Mohave, keep an eye out for boils of fish and birds overhead. When you cast into a boil, consider using an anchovy or a trout jig. These boils often produce stripers in the 1-5 pound range.
We hope this information helps, and we look forward to seeing you soon to share your latest catch! Thank you for all your support—serving this community since 2004 has been our pleasure.
Now, go catch a fish!
