Here at the Upper Kern, flows have settled back down and the CDFW stocked trout here throughout the 20-mile stretch. Anglers have been scoring trout at the easy access points with salmon eggs, crickets and trout jigs. The Upper Kern River was stocked this week in the following sections: Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville; Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge; Section 6, Fairview Dam to Johnsondale Bridge. The Lower Kern Largemouth and smallmouth bass bite is fair with the cooler water temps. Plastics fished in the slower current and eddies are fooling a few smallmouths. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 437 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 411 CFS.
