Lake Nacimiento climbed to 61 percent of capacity, and spring conditions have clearly taken hold. While not every angler experienced wide open action, enough reported 20 plus fish days to confirm that the spring bite has arrived. Bass anglers found steady success with hula grubs, drop shot rigs, and Senkos in brown, grey, and green patterns. Six inch purple worms on a shaky head also produced quality fish. Crankbaits and jerkbaits accounted for additional bites as fish began to transition and feed more aggressively. White bass pushed shad into the coves, creating solid action for anglers throwing small live minnows, swimbaits, and Flicker Shad. Crappie held 10 to 20 feet deep near submerged structure and responded well to minijigs. Catfish anglers reported good results on cut baits and dip bait.
