Castaic rose to 44 percent of capacity, and debris continue to be an issue. Be careful while motoring, as there are some boat busting logs floating throughout the lake. Bass anglers reported fair fishing with the best action on main lake points in 20 to 40 feet of water. Finesse baits in purple, baitfish, and brown have been a good way to get bit. A-rigs also worked for decent numbers of bass. Striped bass worked the surface in the fish arm, but they were not anxious to bite. Topwater, Kastmasters, and A-rigs took smaller striper. The best bet for bigger striper has been fly-coring and trolling umbrella rigs through the muddy water. Catfish ate chicken liver and garlic scented nightcrawlers, and trout anglers reported good fishing near the marina. Two trucks of trout were planted for the New Year. Minijigs, dough baits, and Kastmasters have been the way to go.
