The Metolius has been fishing well, with afternoon hatches offering consistent dry fly action. Yellow Cinygmula Mayflies (#14-16) and Blue Wing Olives (#18) are making their presence known, and October Caddis are still in the mix. Dry fly anglers should have a selection of emergers, duns, and spinners for the mayflies.
For nymphing, a well-rounded setup includes Perdigons, Pheasant Tails, 2 Bits, and small Hare’s Ears. Golden Stones, eggs, and zebra midges are also solid choices. Green Drake nymphs are active but the hatch is still quite a ways out.
