The lake fell to 25 percent of its storage, and fishing was good. However, rapidly falling water levels made anglers adapt and find new fishing spots. Finesse baits, weightless wacky rigged Senko style baits, and topwater lures all produced. Anglers used electronics to locate submerged rock piles on main and secondary points. Spotted bass held in 10 to 25 feet of water with bigger models holding on the deeper end of that range. Aaron’s Magic, Smokin’ Shad, and Ox Blood were some of the top producers. Poppers and Whopper Ploppers got some grabs early in the day. Crappie anglers rigged live minnows and small swimbaits on slip bobbers with a bobber stop for decent results, and catfish ate chicken liver, dip bait, and cut anchovies rigged Carolina style.
